Even Brad Pitt wears a helmet!

There are a number of similarities between MA insurance policies for cars and policies for motorcycles. The same basic principles apply to both forms of transport, in terms of what types of coverage are available, and how your premiums are determined. One of the main differences though is that motorcycles are considered higher risk vehicles than cars, and vehicle accident statistics back that up.

Due to the over representation of motorcycles in vehicle crash statistics, proving you are a safe motorcycle driver is especially important if you want affordable insurance. Perhaps the most important safety precaution you can take after you get your motorcycle license is to wear a helmet.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that 16 lives per 100,000 registered motorcycle riders in MA were saved due to helmet use. MA enforces universal helmet law.

The Center for Disease Prevention and Control reports that states with universal helmet law have more success than states with partial or no helmet law in saving lives. Helmets reduce the risk of death by 37 per cent, and reduce the risk of serious injury by 69 per cent, according to the CDC.

Other ways to save on your MA insurance include taking a motorbike safety course, reducing your mileage, and having a clean driving record. Speak to an agent about getting the right coverage on your motorcycle insurance policy.
